How to Claim Your Apple Warranty When Buying in Kenya

    Introduction

Apple warranty claims in Kenya can be confusing because coverage depends heavily on where and how the device was purchased. Here's how the process actually works.

    Step 1: Confirm Warranty Status

Visit Apple's official 'Check Coverage' page and enter your device's serial number, found under Settings > General > About. This immediately tells you whether the device carries active AppleCare or standard one-year warranty coverage.

    Step 2: Understand Regional Limitations

Apple's standard warranty is technically international, but in-person hardware service in Kenya is typically handled through Apple Authorized Service Providers rather than an Apple Store, since Apple has no official retail presence in the country.

Step 3: Locate an Authorized Service Provider

Only a small number of Nairobi-based retailers hold official Apple Authorized Service Provider status. Buying through one of these directly, rather than a grey-market import, significantly simplifies any future warranty claim.

Step 4: Keep Your Original Receipt

Always retain your original purchase receipt showing the retailer's details and purchase date. This is typically required to process any warranty claim, particularly for devices imported from outside Kenya.

    Step 5: For AppleCare+ Claims

If you purchased AppleCare+, claims for accidental damage generally need to be processed through the country of purchase, which is worth confirming with the retailer before buying a grey-market device with AppleCare+ already attached.
