Six weeks with the iPhone 17 Pro Max as a daily driver in Nairobi gave us a clearer picture than any launch-day review could. This is how the phone holds up once the excitement settles and it becomes the device you actually rely on for work, navigation, and content creation.

Design and Camera Control

Camera Performance

For our Digital Creator persona, the 17 Pro Max is the strongest mobile filmmaking tool Apple has shipped. ProRes video at higher resolutions, improved stabilization, and better low-light performance make it a legitimate B-camera for small production teams, especially paired with a clip-on lens kit.

Battery Life

This is where the 17 Pro Max quietly impresses. Across normal weekday use — calls, WhatsApp, navigation, an hour of video recording — the phone consistently ended the day with 25 to 35 percent remaining, a meaningful improvement that removes the anxiety long associated with heavy iPhone use.

Software and Ecosystem

Running iOS 20, the phone leans further into on-device AI for photo editing and writing suggestions. For buyers already inside the Apple ecosystem — AirPods, Apple Watch, MacBook — the integration remains the strongest reason to stay loyal despite the local price premium.

Pricing in Kenya
